Application & Admission

Application procedures are managed by the services of the University of Augsburg and its VIBS Online Application Portal.

The admission procedure is carried out by the joint URC Examination & Selection Committee, based on transparent pre-determined criteria.


  • General Higher Education Entrance Qualification
  • BA Degree or higher in Geography, Literary/Cultural Studies, Sociology, Applied Linguistics, Ethnology, History, Political Science, Urbanism, Space & Urban Planning, Architecture, Design or similar
  • Language Skills (CEFR): English C1 and Spanish C1 or Portuguese C1

Applicants who fulfill the formal requisites based on submitted (deadline May-1) certificates and proofs of language skills will be invited to an online assessment in June.

Applicants who achieved a minimum of 30 (of maximum 60) Assessment Points are admitted as URC students and will be invited to apply for scholarship support based on a respective Call in June.

Based on their Assessment Score and the submitted Commitment Letter, Certificates, and Proofs for their Scholarship Application, applicants will be ranked (maximum score: 130) and accordingly offered scholarship support upon availability.

NB: All admitted applicants can also matriculate as self-funding students and start their URC studies in Augsburg in October.
